Further excepts from my Adium logs.
Nathan: Faramir for President in 2008.
ActionMan: Who?
Nathan: The younger son of Denethor II, steward of Gondor? He's got the governing-dynasty action going on that the Americans love.
ActionMan: O right
Nathan: Plus, humility and education.
ActionMan: Didn't he lead a doomed force to a massacre?
Nathan: Osgilliath? Well, yeah, but only in order to gain the approval of his ineffective ass-bag of a father, who had failed in the same war.
Nathan: Wait a second...
ActionMan: See, you did it unconsciously.
Nathan: OK, what about Eowyn?
ActionMan: Well, she was meant to have good leadership skills.
Nathan: Though thinking about it, liberals won't like her hawkish record and conservatives are unlikely to vote for a woman.
ActionMan: Isn't Aragorn the logical choice?
Nathan: Man, I don't know. I mean, he is aweXsome, but I was never too comfortable with that "Numenorean master race" thing. I'd still pick Faramir and my first choice, maybe with Eowyn as VP.
ActionMan: You do realise that you can't vote for a president? Not even a fictional one?

Way to piss on someone's bonfire, Actionman.
Though honestly, I agree about Faramir - he's a much underrated character.
Actually the guy playing him (WHAT? It's not REAL?) shows up in 300 with an eyepatch, a pair of underpants and not a lot else.
I wouldn't vote for him. He has a beard. That makes him inherently untrustworthy. What's he hiding?
I wrote pages here, discussing every beardless character I could think of in terms of their suitability for executive government. There is something wrong with me.
I concluded that Galadriel was the best choice, possibly Eowyn if you don't trust an Elf with government. "OK guys, it might look a bit messy now, but you just come back in two thousand years and it'll be awesome".
Though while we're discussing actors, I hear that Eómer is reprising his role as an unstoppable slaughter machine in a really bad film.
I'd vote for Galadriel. She's pretty, and has a ring. And she could easily use her husband to her advantage (Two for one! Vote for me, get Celeborn!)
Also, she's charismatic and is very experienced with Beleriand and Lothlorien.
Strangely enough, in my original "why can't I stop writing" list of beardless candidates, I put this the other way around.
"Celeborn: only ever a puppet candidate. A vote for Celeborn is a vote for the elf-witch. I think it's clear who wears the trousers in Lothlorien"
Perhaps, but we all know which elf has seen the flowers of Telperion and Laurelin. Don't tell me Galadriel wouldn't be one of those 'I hear the voices of the Valar' theocrats.
I think you should vote for Dumbledore. He's the best character in LOTR.
